College of Education General Information
  • The College of Education at Georgia College & State University is accredited by  the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP, https://gcsu.edu/admin/media/image-global/26206). This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs at Milledgeville Georgia and online. However, the accreditation does not include individual education courses that the institution offers to PK-12 educators for professional development, re-licensure or other purposes. We have maintained accreditation with NCATE and CAEP since 1955, the year after NCATE was founded. Like other former NCATE institutions, the COE programs have transitioned to CAEP accreditation (http://caepnet.org/).
  • The College is also accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Association (PSC; Approved Programs). The University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
